President Mbumba inaugurates Daures green hydrogen agriculture facility

Background

President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba has officially inaugurated the Daures Green Hydrogen Agriculture Facility in the Erongo region. According to the Presidency, during the ceremony, President Mbumba expressed his gratitude to the Daures community for their support of this innovative project. He also encouraged all Namibians to take pride in the nation’s progress toward a sustainable future.

The hydrogen project is expected to become Namibia’s largest food producer, with a one-hectare greenhouse facility set to yield 500-600 tonnes of agricultural produce annually. President Mbumba’s visit reflects his ongoing dedication to promoting Namibia’s involvement in the global green hydrogen industry, vital for economic recovery and sustainable growth.

The Daures Green Hydrogen Village serves as a key hub for the country’s hydrogen initiatives, including green direct reduced iron production, powered by a mix of solar and wind energy.
