31 OCTOBER 2024

In a year marked by growing artistic innovation and resilience, the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) is thrilled to announce the latest achievements in its grant-funding programme.

The Cycle 3 grant disbursement, totaling N$673,552.00, will support twenty-four (24) diverse creative projects. This allocation reaffirms NACN’s strategic commitment to nurturing an inclusive arts ecosystem that not only enriches the cultural sector but also contributes meaningfully to its creative economy. The NACN funds projects across a spectrum of disciplines, including Craft, Dance, Fashion, Literature, Multidiscipline, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts.

Eligibility for Cycle 3 required alignment with at least one of six key focus areas that address critical social and cultural themes, including:

  1. Social protection and research.
  2. Unearthing marginalized and indigenous arts in rural areas.
  3. Addressing social issues such as unemployment and gender-based violence.
  4. Supporting the involvement of women, youth, and people living with disabilities.
  5. Creation of new works through digital media.
  6. Capacity building and arts entrepreneurship.

Following a rigorous selection process from 143 applications, the twenty-four funded projects in Cycle 3 are poised to drive transformative change within their communities, providing innovative solutions and creative outlets for addressing social challenges.

The announcement of Cycle 3 follows two impactful rounds earlier this year: Cycle 1, which awarded N$615,206.50 across sixteen (16) projects, and Cycle 2, with N$521,624.30 supporting fifteen (15) initiatives.

As the NACN continues its grant programme, it encourages Namibia’s artists, cultural practitioners, and organizations to explore future funding opportunities, reinforcing the arts as an essential force for social, cultural, and economic progress. Find the approved applications below:
