Ultimate Safaris’ Onduli Ridge and Enclave, Camp Doros, and Galton House were all recently awarded 5 Flowers by Eco Awards Namibia, while Camp Sossus was awarded the “almost unobtainable” 5 GREEN Flowers for establishments which score 90% or more for the environmental criteria sections, namely: Water, Energy, Waste Management, and Conservation.
The properties all earned these accolades in their first assessment, something Programme Coordinator at Eco Awards Namibia, Hazel Milne, says is an unusual achievement.
Ultimate Safaris’ activities as a Tour Operator also achieved 5 flowers, making them 1 of only 4 operators in the country to have achieved this accolade.
Eco Awards Namibia awards flower rankings for accommodation establishments that are planned and managed according to eco-friendly principles, promoting the selective and careful use of natural resources, and promoting reducing, recycling and reusing.
In the words of Eco Awards Namibia, “by being certified by Eco Awards, our members, who include Tour Operators and Accommodation Establishments ranging from hotels and lodges to guest houses, bed and breakfasts, self-catering and camping, have made a public commitment to environmentally sustainable tourism in Namibia”.
Having achieved this remarkable full house of awards, Ultimate Safaris, rather than resting on their Laurels, plan to continue striving to do better.
In the words of Sustainability & Conservation Manager, Jason Nott: “We are delighted that our sustainability efforts have been recognized with the absolute highest order across our entire business by Eco Awards Namibia. Not only do we try to be a positive impact business for conservation and the people of Namibia, but we also actively work towards ensuring that the environmental footprint of our business activities remains at an absolute minimum. This recognition is great affirmation that our efforts are achieving the desired results”.
