UN report accuses Israel of targeting Gaza’s healthcare

The Chairperson of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, presented the commission’s latest investigative report to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, 31 October 2024.

Navi Pillay and her team, appointed by the UN Human Rights Council, determined that Israel has implemented a policy aimed at destroying Gaza’s healthcare system as part of a larger offensive, committing war crimes, and deliberately targeting medical personnel and facilities.

The report further states that both Israel and Palestinian armed groups are accountable for torture and sexual and gender-based violence, with Israeli security forces intentionally killing, detaining, and torturing medical staff.
