Mauritius has ordered a social media blackout for all internet providers until November 11, the day after its general election, which the opposition claims is an attempt to avoid electoral defeat. Reuters has it that the move follows a wiretapping scandal involving leaked recordings of conversations among politicians, police, journalists, and civil society members, which have circulated on social media since mid-October.
