The UN’s migration agency, IOM, reported that at least 25 people died after traffickers deliberately capsized a boat near the Comoros islands on Friday night. Reuters has it that the incident, which took place between Anjouan and Mayotte, marks the third such tragedy in three months, raising alarms over increased trafficking risks in the region. IOM expressed sorrow over the incident and called attention to the urgent need for enhanced protections for vulnerable migrants making perilous sea journeys.
