The Media Professionals Union has demanded that the Electoral Commission of Namibia stop obstructing journalists covering the elections at Van Rhyn polling station. NAMPU states that journalists are being denied movement, kept on-site for extended hours, and unable to report freely due to battery and hunger issues. Acting Secretary-General Jemima Beukes condemned this interference, calling it a violation of media freedom and a threat to transparent election coverage. NAMPU urges ECN to respect journalists’ role in democracy and to allow unhindered access to polling stations.
