U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan Calls for Aid and Peace

Tom Perriello, appointed as the U.S. special envoy to Sudan in February, made his first trip to the country on Monday. Reuters has it that during his visit to Port Sudan, he emphasized the need for increased aid to millions affected by the ongoing conflict and urged an end to the devastating war. This marks the first visit by a senior U.S. official since the war between Sudan’s armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023, following the evacuation of the U.S. embassy.
