Africa will need a six-fold increase in data centres to 700 by 2050 to accelerate its digital transformation, according to an expert speaking on Monday to the News Day Nigeria publication. Amid this, calls are growing for countries to ratify the African Union’s Cyber Security and Data Protection Convention, which aims to build a secure information society across the continent. Forty countries, including Zimbabwe, are yet to sign the convention.
