Swapo Secures Majority as Nandi-Ndaitwah Wins Presidency

Background

The Electoral Commission officially declared the results of the this year’s Presidential and National Assembly elections, with Swapo clinching 51 out of 96 seats. In the presidential race, Swapo’s Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah emerged victorious with 57.31%, while IPC’s Dr. Panduleni Itula received 25.50%. Notable Swapo ministers losing their seats include Peya Mushelenga, Tom Alweendo, Itah Kandjii-Murangi, Frans Kapofi, Utoni Nujoma, Christine //Hoebes, Erastus Uutoni, Obeth Kandjoze, and Anna Nghipondoka.
