Mutare, Zimbabwe – 21 November 2024: In a significant move toward internationalizing its skills training, Welwitchia University has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Mutare Polytechnic of Zimbabwe. The MoA was signed at a formal ceremony held on 21 November 2024 at the Mutare Polytechnic campus.
Mutare Polytechnic is considered one of the best polytechnics in Zimbabwe, renowned for its hands-on approach embedded in the heritage-based philosophy of using locally available resources. The partnership, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in higher education, was celebrated as a pivotal moment for both institutions. During her welcome remarks, Ms. Poniso Watema, Principal of Mutare Polytechnic, emphasized the significance of this alliance.
“The signing of this Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) is a sealing to the commitment to mutual growth, innovation, and excellence in education,” Ms. Watema stated.
She further highlighted the core objectives of the partnership, which include:
Welwitchia University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Marius Hedimbi, underscored the transformative potential of the partnership in his remarks.
“Together, we will unlock new opportunities, leverage our strengths, and create a brighter future for our students, communities, and nations,” said Professor Hedimbi.

Through this partnership, Welwitchia University and Mutare Polytechnic aim to empower students and educators with the skills and knowledge to drive sustainable development.
The signing ceremony concluded with commitments from both institutions to ensure the MoA translates into meaningful and impactful initiatives.
