today6 January, 2025

Background

Popular Democratic Movement leader McHenry Venaani has urged the Office of the Prime Minister to assist flood victims in Windhoek’s informal settlements. Saturday’s heavy rains damaged shacks, leaving many residents without shelter. The hardest-hit areas include the Otjomuise MG Division near the riverbank and the area behind the Otjomuise Police Station, according to the City of Windhoek. Residents of the Samora Machel constituency have expressed fears of losing everything if the flash floods persist. Venaani emphasized the need for a clear emergency response plan to evacuate and support those affected.
