A case of discharging a firearm in a public place has been reported following a shooting incident at a Swakopmund nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning. The case has been officially recorded under the Swakopmund crime register, according to Erongo Police Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula.

While details about the identity of the person who reported the incident remain unclear, Shomongula revealed that the wife of the suspect involved in the shooting is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Windhoek.

“She was advised to open a case of assault with grievous bodily harm,” Shomongula stated.

The suspect in the assault case is also expected to face a charge of pointing a firearm.

The police are actively investigating the incident, which involves multiple parties. Shomongula has urged the public to be patient as authorities work to gather all the facts.

“We kindly request your patience to allow the police to carry out investigations,” she added.

The police are continuing their efforts to determine the full scope of the incident, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
