Woody Jacobs resigns as Tigers FC head coach after six games

Background

Following his resignation from Matebele FC in Botswana last year, Woody Jacobs took on the role of Head Coach for Tigers FC. However, after just six games at the helm, Jacobs has announced his resignation, citing underperformance as the primary reason.

In an interview with Future Media News, Jacobs confirmed his decision and reflected on the challenges faced during his tenure.

“I submitted my resignation, and although I didn’t receive formal acknowledgment, I know the club has moved on, appointing an interim coach. This suggests my resignation has been accepted,” Jacobs explained.

Jacobs highlighted the team’s poor results as the driving factor behind his decision.

“The review of the results showed that things weren’t going well under my leadership. As a coach in a performance-based industry, I realized I wasn’t the right person to lead the team to better fortunes,” he said. “It’s the captain’s duty to step aside when the ship isn’t sailing smoothly.”

Despite the disappointment, Jacobs maintained a positive outlook.

“I walk away with my head held high, knowing I gave my best effort, even though it wasn’t enough. I hold no ill feelings towards management or anyone else. This decision was in the best interest of the club and myself.”

Jacobs, who also serves as a talent developer for the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and coaches the women’s national team, acknowledged that balancing multiple responsibilities had taken its toll.

“I was juggling too many balls, and unfortunately, I dropped the ball at Tigers. I regret not achieving better results with the team, but now I want to focus fully on my NFA duties and give everything to Namibian football, which is close to my heart,” he concluded.

Jacobs’ departure marks the end of a brief stint at Tigers FC, as the club now looks to an interim coach to steer the team forward.
