Human rights activist John Nakuta has stated that the anti-gay marriage law signed by President Nangolo Mbumba is discriminatory and violates the Constitution’s equality clause. Nakuta argues that the law seeks to circumvent the 2023 Supreme Court ruling, which mandates that same-sex marriages legally conducted abroad must be recognized by the Namibian government. He believes this law can be contested in court.
