U.S States file lawsuit over Trump’s birthright citizenship order

Background

 

Eighteen US states have filed a lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order removing the automatic right to US citizenship for almost anyone born in the country. The Supreme Court has previously upheld what’s known as birthright citizenship on the grounds that it is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. Ira Spitzer has more.
