It’s becoming difficult to find odd jobs in Windhoek

Some unemployed men who stand by the roadside in Windhoek have not been lucky to find odd jobs for years.
NewsOne caught up with three men who shared their struggles finding a job.
A 56-year-old Joseph Valombola has been unable to secure a job for 12 years and stands on the roadside in Khomasdal hoping for odd jobs daily.
Despite the challenges, he remains hopeful.
“You can go to bed on an empty stomach because there is no food, and one has children. You buy bread to feed the children, but it’s not easy. You give them a slice each, but they don’t know the struggle of looking for a job. I am determined to make it—that’s the daily challenge,” said Valombola.
Pineas Shetunyenga has spent five years standing by the roadside, searching for an odd job to support his family.
” I have been standing at this spot for five years, and there is no sight of relief. I have children at home, and there is no food. In this struggle, one may make N$50 or N$100. I buy food, and it finishes, but I continue struggling,” said Valombola.
A 26-year-old Kaurembi Paulus, who studied welding, said finding a job has been a constant struggle.
“I feel bad about it. I try my best to have something in my life, like a qualification that says you did something in your life, then you have that paper, then I feel so bad to not get a good job or something to start with in life.I used to go and submit my CV, but I did not get a job,” says Paulus.
