A recent poverty report highlights concerning trends in Namibia, with children, women, persons with disabilities, and informal sector workers expected to face higher poverty levels in the coming years. The report reveals that the poverty rate has more than doubled in six years, with 70% of workers earning less than N$1,400 a month. The poverty headcount has increased to 852,317 in 2023, with children, women, and pensioners being the most affected groups. Kavango East, Kunene, and Zambezi are the hardest-hit regions in the country. Activist Rinaani Mustua weighs in:
