Labor Expert Weighs In On NSA Unemployment Stats release

According to the Statistics Agency, the local unemployment rate now stands at 36.9%, compared to 33.4% in 2018. Statistician General Alex Shimuafeni announced the figures yesterday: For comment, Labor Analyst Herbert Jauch:

Josef Kefas Sheehama, an Economics and Business Researcher, raises concerns about the accuracy of unemployment data, questioning survey definitions and government use for planning. Commenting on a social media post, the expert cautions that the rising unemployment could destabilize society if not addressed.
