Rainfall Boosts Dam Levels

NamWater has reported minor increases in dam levels across Namibia, attributed to ongoing rainfall. Von Bach Dam reached 23.9%, Omatako Dam 2.6%, and Friedenau Dam 46.1%. According to spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata, rainfall is expected to persist until March 2025, further strengthening the country’s water security.

Four Entities Granted Provisional Licensing by Bank of Namibia

The Bank of Namibia has granted provisional licences to Finatic Technologies, United PayPoint, Mindex Virtual Asset Exchange, and Landifa Bitcoin Trade under the 2023 Payment System and Virtual Asset Acts. BoN's Kazembire Zemburuka indicated in a press release that full licensing depends on meeting compliance conditions within six months. S.A Civic Organization Accuses Government of Inhumane Treatment of Trapped Stilfontein Miners

  The South African National Civics Organisation in North West has accused the government of subjecting trapped Stilfontein miners to inhumane conditions. SANCO spokesperson, Mzukisi Jam, criticised the state for championing global human rights while neglecting domestic issues. Omusati Education Director Paulus Kashiimbi has instructed nine private schools in the region to cease operations immediately due to non-compliance with registration requirements. In a letter dated November 26 last year, Kashiimbi referenced sections of the Education Act of 2020, which prohibit the operation of satellite schools or part-time centers that are not fully registered under the Basic Education Act.
