Erongo police arrest four for stealing dogs

Three men and a boy aged between 20 and 12 are expected to appear before the Swakopmund Magistrate Court today after allegedly stealing two dogs in Matutura on Tuesday.

According to the Erongo Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, two Rottweiler dogs aged between two and three, were stolen from the complainant’s residence while she was in the house.

“The owner was about to feed her dogs, but they were missing from the house.

“Upon a close look, she noticed a hole that was dug under the fence. During the process of searching, it surfaced that the dogs were stolen by four young men.”
“The owner later discovered one of her dogs at certain house in DRC township,” said Shapumba.

It was further reported to the Police that the male dog was allegedly killed with an axe.

“Both were sold to local kapana trader to the value of N$200. The buyer in turn, prepared and sold the whole as kapana.

The dogs were valued at N$ 5000 each,” said the Police spokesperson.
