Hundreds of Namibian workers face an uncertain future after USAID halted global NGO funding. Namibia received N$737 million for HIV/AIDS relief in 2024, with IntraHealth securing over N$165 million last year. The funding cut has forced some NGOs to send employees home. Health Minister Kalumbi Shangula warned that organizations relying on PEPFAR and other international aid will be severely affected. The decision follows former US President Donald Trump’s move to stop USAID funding. Many fear this will disrupt critical HIV/AIDS programs in Namibia.
