The government has announced official guidelines for public events following the passing of the country’s founding president, Dr. Sam Shafishuna Nujoma. In a statement, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Modestus Amutse says state commemorations are suspended, while limited sports and school athletics may continue under strict decorum. Private events are not prohibited, but the public is urged to maintain respect during the mourning period. The official memorial service is scheduled for 18:00 at his residence, with visitation hours set from 2-6pm.
