Former Swanu president and member of parliament, Usutuaije Maamberua, has called on Namibians to revisit the country’s Vision 2030 to honour the legacy of the late Sam Nujoma.
Maamberua, who served as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance during Nujoma’s tenure for over seven years, said reflecting on the vision that helped shape the nation’s development goals is essential.
Maamberua said the country has deviated from the original goals in Vision 2030, which he believes is a realistic and achievable plan.
“It was a vision that had different milestones in different sectors that were not unrealistic, they were all realistic. As you know, all visions at one time or the other can be revisited,” remarked Maamberua.
Maamberua also said Nujoma’s self-reliant spirit could provide valuable guidance for the country in the face of ongoing economic challenges.
“ To look at alternatives, to be reliant, that is one thing that one would remember the late president Nujoma for. It is the spirit of self-reliance that he fostered in the psyche of Namibians-that is what he transferred in to the administration of the country,” said Maamberua.
