Dr. Sam Nujoma

Nujoma’s Final Journey Through Windhoek commences at Hosea Kutako International Airport

today27 February, 2025

Background

The remains of the late Founding Father, His Excellency Dr. Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna Nujoma, arrived at Hosea Kutako International Airport before being placed in a hearse for a ceremonial procession through Windhoek. Crowds lined the streets to pay their respects as the cortege moved along key landmarks, including Sam Nujoma Drive, Mandume Ndemufayo Road, and Independence Avenue, with stops at Soweto Market, Katutura Shoprite, the Swapo National Headquarters, and the Fire Brigade Circle. Learners from Emma Hoogenhout Primary School are also gathered along David Meroro Road to witness the historic moment. The procession will conclude at Parliament Gardens, where the remains will lie overnight for the final tribute.
