NamWater has announced that water supply to Walvis Bay has been temporarily affected due to a power outage in the Kuiseb area.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, NamWater Head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications, Lot Ndamanomhata, said that this comes after the NamWater Kuiseb Artisans Team reported a power outage at 9:00 this morning.

“Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the outage originated from Erongo RED.”

“NamWater immediately informed Erongo RED, and their team has since been working to identify and resolve the issue.”

“As a result of this outage, NamWater is currently unable to replenish the reservoir that supplies Walvis Bay, as all boreholes remain without power. Once power is restored, NamWater will immediately restart all boreholes to resume normal water supply,” he said.

He urged the public to use water sparingly until the issue is resolved.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” said Ndamanomhata.

NamWater indicated that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
