The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) expects the government to allocate sufficient funds to establish and operate entrepreneurship centres in all 121 constituencies.

This was said by SPYL spokesperson Moses Shikerete ahead of the tabling of the National Budget Thursday.

The finance minister Ericah Shafudah will table the 2025/26 financial year budget in the National Assembly.

Shikerete said the allocation will ensure provision of resources, training, and mentorship programs for young people to develop and sustain businesses.

“Increase funding for youth employment tax incentives to encourage more companies to offer internship and graduate placement opportunities,” he said.

“Introduce a dedicated budget for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, particularly for vocational training students and graduates, enabling them to gain practical experience while contributing to national development,” Shikerete added.

Shikerete further called for a significant increase in the capital budget to expand and improve school infrastructure, ensuring well-equipped learning facilities.

“Actively integrate vocational students and graduates into school infrastructure projects through the Namibia National Internship Program (NNIP), allowing them to gain real-world experience while addressing the country’s educational infrastructure challenges,” he said.

SPYL has also called on the government to subsidise agricultural initiatives to boost local food production and enhance national food security.

“Enforce the Cabinet directive on local procurement, ensuring that at least 40% of agricultural produce used in government institutions is sourced from the Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA),” Shikerete said.

He added the government should increase the capital budget to expand and accelerate the construction of clinics and district hospitals to improve healthcare accessibility across the country.

Shikerete further urged for the allocation of adequate funds to upgrade and modernise the Independence Stadium and other sports facilities across the country, particularly in the South, West, North, and North-East regions.
