WINDHOEK, Namibia – Today, 23 June, marks International Olympic Day, celebrated worldwide under the theme “Let’s Move?”. The day promotes the importance of physical activity and Olympic values—excellence, friendship, and respect—urging everyone, regardless of age or background, to incorporate movement into daily life.

National Olympic Committee Secretary General Joan Smit says, “Sport is joy, sport brings people together… we invite people everywhere to experience the joy of sport, and to take a friend along to play sport on Olympic Day and inspire beyond”.

Events around the world include community runs, youth workshops, virtual workouts, and aquatics activities—like Beijing’s 4.5 km race between the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube—highlighting both physical and mental health benefits.
