A senior delegation of Afrikaner leaders, led by Freedom Front Plus president Corné Mulder, held a high-level meeting with White House officials yesterday to discuss the future of U.S.–South Africa relations.

During the talks, U.S. representatives outlined two key preconditions for strengthening bilateral ties: classifying farm attacks in South Africa as a priority crime and opposing any land expropriation without fair market compensation.

Joining Mulder were Theo de Jager, executive board chair of the Southern African Agri Initiative, and Gerhard Papenfus, CEO of the National Employers’ Association of South Africa. Mulder, according to Business Tech, said the White House urged the delegation to communicate these conditions to the South African public and government.

The meeting has sparked debate back home, with some ANC members criticizing Afrikaner groups for lobbying abroad. Mulder defended the visit as necessary to protect farmers’ safety and encourage foreign investment.
