Interview: IPC Charts Next Steps After Five-Year Milestone

The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has marked its upcoming fifth anniversary with a National Executive Committee meeting focused on charting the party’s way forward. Spokesman Immanuel Nashinge confirmed that senior party structures gathered from June 27th to 28th to reflect on the IPC’s performance since its formation, particularly the lessons from last year’s national parliamentary and presidential elections.

Nashinge explained that the meeting assessed legal battles faced by the party, including court cases that emerged during the election period. The discussions aimed to provide clarity on the party’s direction and lay a solid foundation for a new five-year strategic plan. This plan will prepare IPC for the upcoming November regional and local authority elections with clear short-term strategies and better readiness for challenges ahead.

The NEC gathering also touched on possible amendments to the party’s constitution. Nashinge said these changes will ensure that IPC remains adaptable and relevant as it positions itself for continued growth towards the 2029 elections. He concluded that the party’s leadership is committed to building on the lessons learned to strengthen its role in Namibia’s democracy.
