Zimbabwe rallies past Kenya to book final against Namibia

Namibia and Zimbabwe will face off in the Rugby Africa Cup final on Saturday, 19 July 2025, with direct qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup on the line. The showdown takes place in Kampala, Uganda, at the Mandela National Stadium, where the winner will be crowned continental champion and earn Africa’s sole automatic slot at the next World Cup.

According to the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Namibia secured their spot with a commanding 21–7 victory over Algeria, led by fly‑half Ian Prior, whose tactical kicking and composure controlled the game. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, staged a thrilling comeback to beat Kenya 29–23 in the semifinals. Trailing 18–13 at halftime, they overturned the deficit with a try from Dylan Utete, followed by pivotal points via Ian Prior’s drop goal and penalties.

The winner not only claims the continental title but also secures direct qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Namibia punched their ticket after a 21–7 win over Algeria, powered by fly-half Ian Prior.
