Drilling operations began at Volans-1X exploration, lock PEL 8

The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia, NAMCOR, alongside its joint venture partners Rhino Resources (Operator), Azule Energy, and Korres Investments, has commenced with drilling operations on Volans-1X exploration well, located offshore Namibia within Block PEL 85 of the Orange Basin.

According to a statement issued by NAMCOR, Drilling is being carried out by the semi-submersible Deepsea Mira, operated by Northern Ocean, in water depths of approximately 1,200 metres.

The operation is expected to take around 55 days to complete.

“This well represents the third drilling operation in the block and marks a significant milestone for NAMCOR and its partners in further evaluating the potential of the Orange Basin, one of the most promising hydrocarbon provinces in the region,” the statement read.
