Germany’s KfW Development Bank has committed a N$500 million grant to support Namibia’s road infrastructure projects. The announcement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Omuthiya–Elambo road, where KfW Director Beatrice Lucke said the funding comes from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. She emphasised that the investment reflects Germany’s continued partnership with Namibia in fostering economic growth and regional connectivity.
Meanwhile, Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi urged the Roads Authority and contractors to uphold financial integrity and avoid misusing public funds. He cautioned against repeating past incidents of cost overruns, stressing that wasted money could have been used to build much-needed schools and clinics. Nekundi underscored that accountability will be strictly enforced to ensure every cent benefits the Namibian people.
