The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) is in the final stage of securing €25 million (about N$625 million) in funding from the Mitigation Action Facility.
The financing will support the establishment of Namibia’s first Green Industrial Zone in the Erongo Region. The proposal was shortlisted from more than 500 global submissions and is expected to be decided on in October.
If approved, the project will promote low-carbon industrialisation, create green jobs, and support Namibia’s shift to a sustainable economy. The zone will focus on renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, clean technology, and value-chain development.
EIF spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said the project is a key step in positioning Namibia as a leader in green economic growth.
