Shiimi’s bail hearing case postponed to Wednesday

The Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court has postponed the bail hearing for Eliakim Taapopi Shiimi (40) to Wednesday.

Shiimi is accused of stabbing his girlfriend Martha Aron (35) to death at Oshifukwa in the Oshikoto Region on 22 September 2024.

The bail hearing was postponed to allow the state prosecutor, Justine Shiweda, to conduct cross-examination.

During the proceedings Shiimi said he wants to be granted bail for him to be able to assist his two children, his mother and nieces, who depends on him as he is the breadwinner of the family.

Shiimi stated that he could only afford N$ 2000 for bail, with assistance from relatives.

Asked what he would tell the family who were also in court if given a chance to, he expressed a desire to apologise to the deceased’s relatives.
