Cleanergy to build ammonia pipeline at Walvis Bay by 2029

today22 September, 2025

Background

“What is missing is that pipeline that needs to be a link between the vessel and the plant where the green ammonia is exported.”

Cleanergy Solutions will construct an ammonia pipeline and terminal at Walvis Bay to support green fuel exports. The project is scheduled for completion in 2029.

Namport has allocated land for the development and is investing in supporting infrastructure. Cleanergy has committed €3 billion to scale up hydrogen and ammonia production.

Namport Chief Executive Officer Andrew Kanime said the port already has basic infrastructure in place, and the key requirement now is building the pipeline that will link production plants to export vessels.
