President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa has remained consistent in its calls for reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Ramaphosa is attending the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York this week. In his weekly newsletter, he said the current composition of the council and its decisions undermine global cooperation.

He added that reform efforts, including proposals to expand permanent membership, have stalled and need to be revived.
