The UN Human Rights Office has raised alarm over a sharp increase in civilian killings and ethnic violence in Sudan. Reports point to summary executions and worsening conditions in the city of El Fasher, which has become one of the focal points of the conflict.

According to OHCHR spokesperson Li Fung, the situation is dire, with ongoing accounts of civilians being killed in escalating clashes. The UN has called on all parties involved to respect human rights and international law, warning that the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen.

UN News reports that the conflict in Sudan has already displaced millions and left communities struggling with insecurity, food shortages, and disrupted access to aid.
