Police in the Coblenz area are investigating a suspected poaching incident after a government-owned zebra was found dead in a snare at Rimpan in the early hours of Saturday, 4 October 2025.

According to the police, the incident occurred around midnight when the complainant, a custodian responsible for about 50 zebras belonging to the government, discovered the decomposed carcass of a female zebra while patrolling the camp.

It is alleged that the animal died after becoming entangled in a snare set up within its grazing area.
