A 21-year-old man died in Rehoboth after an alleged robbery attempt turned violent near Dr. Olivier’s Vet Practice in Block B between Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

According to the police, a 28-year-old man was walking home from Oudrew Man Bar/Splash Carwash at around 23h00 on Saturday when he was approached by three men who allegedly robbed him of his cellphone.

During the scuffle, the victim was stabbed on his left cheek, prompting him to fight back in self-defense.

He reportedly struck one of the attackers, while the other two fled with his cellphone.

Police officers on patrol later arrived at the scene and found one of the suspected robbers lying unconscious.

He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The deceased, a Namibian male, has been identified, and his next of kin have been informed.
