Defence & security parliamentary committee to meet Police Inspector General

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security will pay a courtesy visit on Monday afternoon to the Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo.
According to a statement issued by Parliament, the visit led by the chairperson James Uerikua, aims to strengthen cooperation and promote a shared understanding of parliamentary oversight within the safety and security sector.
It will also provide the committee with an opportunity to gain insights into policing operations across the country.
During the engagement, Shikongo is expected to brief the committee on the challenges and opportunities facing the Police, while Uerikua will present an overview of the Committee’s planned activities for the year.
Both parties are expected to exchange ideas and deliberate on strategies to enhance national security, improve crime prevention and responsiveness, and strengthen the police’s capacity to effectively execute its constitutional mandate, ensuring the safety of communities and the protection of lives and property across Namibia.
