The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has accused the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) of spreading false and misleading information after the Commission claimed that the party’s nominations for the upcoming regional and local elections failed to meet legal requirements.
In a strongly worded statement, IPC spokesperson Immanuel Nashinge dismissed the ECN’s announcement as “false and malicious,” saying the party’s documentation was submitted in full compliance with the law.

The dispute comes as Namibia prepares for the 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections scheduled for November 26. The ECN has yet to issue a response to IPC’s allegations.
Political analysts say the confrontation highlights growing tensions between opposition parties and electoral authorities ahead of next year’s polls, which are expected to test public confidence in Namibia’s electoral system.
