Health Ministry confirms 44 Mpox contact cases in Erongo Region

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has identified 44 contact cases following the confirmation of an Mpox infection in Swakopmund.

According to Health Ministry spokesperson Walters Kamaya, these are not additional confirmed infections but individuals who may have come into contact with the infected person.

“These are contact cases whereby we allege that the confirmed case could have been in contact with other people,” Kamaya explained. “So far, we have identified 44 contact cases.

Kamaya said health workers are continuing with tracing and monitoring efforts, and the ministry is assuring the public that all necessary measures are being taken to contain the spread.

The Health Ministry last week confirmed an Mpox case in Swakopmund, prompting increased surveillance and public awareness in the Erongo Region.
