The African National Congress (ANC) says South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) policy will not be scrapped.

This follows the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) plan to introduce an Economic Inclusion for All Bill aimed at replacing existing BEE legislation.

ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu said the idea that South Africa can function without transformation laws must be challenged.

Meanwhile, the agricultural organisation TLU SA has welcomed renewed public discussion around equality and inclusive economic growth.

TLU SA’s Bennie van Zyl expressed support for reviewing how transformation policies can promote fairness and broader participation in the economy.
