The Miss Namibia Organisation has revealed the first images of the Miss Universe Namibia 2025, Johanna Swartbooi, national costume. Swartbooi will showcase the costume on Wednesday during the 74th Miss Universe Pageant – National Costume Showcase at 08H00 CAT.

In a statement shared on social media platforms, the organisation said the national costume proudly reflects Namibia’s rich cultural diversity and breathtaking natural landscapes, presenting a visual story through every colour, texture, and detail.”

At its core, the organisation noted that the costume symbolises unity among Namibia’s many tribes while honouring resilience, identity, and national pride.

“The crown and cape, inspired by the iconic Quiver Tree, stand tall as a symbol of endurance.

The cape is printed with the image of a Quiver Tree at sunset, capturing Namibia’s majestic landscape and enduring spirit.

The crown’s beaded headband and a diamond center piece embody Namibia’s shining spirit.
Around her neck, the beaded necklace is crafted from ostrich shell and traditional beads in vibrant hues of yellow, orange, blue, green, red, and brown, signifying harmony across cultures. The corset features intricate Khoisan beadwork and flowing coiled beads, celebrating femininity and cultural craftsmanship, while its skin-toned base honours her Khoisan heritage” said the organisation.

The costume also integrates elements from the Caprivian traditional skirt and the patchwork style of the Nama dress, featuring bright colors inspired by Namibia’s skies, oceans, and sunsets. The Ondjeva, made from ostrich shells, symoolizes purity and the industrious spirit of Namibian women.
Meanwhile, the waist belt and beaded front piece, handcrafted by Khoisan women, embodying identity and cultural pride.

Completing the piece are anklets reflecting the traditions of the Ovahimba and Ovambo communities, symbolising health and well-being.

By wearing this costume on the Miss Universe stage, Swartbooi will carry “the heart of her homeland” with her.
