Court proceedings across Namibia came to a standstill yesterday as magistrates launched a nationwide work stoppage, demanding salary adjustments and improved benefits. The strike action left dozens of court attendees stranded, with no hearings taking place countrywide. President has reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to global climate action as she departs for Brazil to attend the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, COP30, in Belem. Speaking at Hosea Kutako International Airport, she said environmental protection has been a constitutional priority since independence, with Namibia actively engaged in the Rio conventions on biodiversity, desertification, and climate change.
