President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will officially open the Third Session of Namibia’s Eighth Parliament on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, following a year-end recess.
The National Assembly’s Senior Public Relations Officer, Sakeus Kadhikua, confirmed the event to the Namibia Press Agency, adding that it will take place under the theme: “Enhancing the role of Parliament for inclusive development and participatory democracy.” The parliament has been on recess since 13 November 2025.
The opening ceremony will feature a Guard of Honour, a military parade, and a 21-gun salute. Key legislation expected during the session includes the Public Enterprises and Governance Amendment Bill, 2025, and the Petroleum Amendment Bill for Exploration and Production.
