The Omusati police are investigating an incident in which a 22-month-old boy lost his life at Okathitukambanda village on Monday evening.
According to Omusati police regional commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, the victim, Megameno Amweenye died after his two-year-old twin cousins allegedly placed sand in his mouth, nose, and eyes while they were playing under minimal supervision.
The incident happened around 19h40 at their uncle’s house.
It is alleged that the deceased was left with three other children, including two-year-old twin cousins.
Basson further said since they are only two years and three months old, no arrests have been made. The police have informed the next of kin, and the investigation continues.
