Bank Windhoek has announced a N$550 000 sponsorship to the Namibia Chess Federation (NCF), reinforcing its commitment to youth development through chess.
The contribution, announced on 20 March 2026, brings the bank’s total support over the past four years to N$2 million.
The funding will support grassroots programmes, school outreach, and participation in regional and international competitions.
Namibia Chess Federation president, Charles Eichab, has welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as a gamechanger that will help develop critical thinking, discipline, and confidence among young players.
Eichab said that part of the funding will also go toward preparing Namibia’s national team for the 46th Chess Olympiad, organised by the International Chess Federation, FIDE, where nearly 200 countries are expected to compete.
Bank Windhoek representative, Bronwyn Moody said the initiative reflects the bank’s focus on education and strategic thinking.
