Four arrested in separate attempted murder cases over Easter weekend

The police are investigating a series of violent altercations that occurred across the country during the first week of April 2026. 

The weekend police report indicates that four men were allegedly assaulted and injured following reported attacks with pangas, spears, and other blunt instruments.

​A suspected domestic dispute between brothers reportedly escalated into physical violence, during which a 28-year-old suspect allegedly struck his brother on the head with a metal iron.

Due to the severity of the head trauma, the victim was moved from Rundu State Hospital to Windhoek.

Police report the incident happened on Thursday. 

In another incident, a 49-year-old Zambian national was reportedly stabbed in the stomach. with a spear following an argument in Nasisangani Village in Katima Mulilo.

​A 30-year-old suspect was apprehended by a police operation team during a reported physical altercation in Jakalsdraai in Kharas Region, for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old with a kitchen knife on the left side of his chest.

The police report further said a 37-year-old man was arrested for a brutal attack involving a panga, with the victim hacked multiple times and stabbed in the leg, resulting in serious injuries at Kashiyana Village in Zambezi Region. 

All four suspects have been arrested and are expected to appear in court this week. 

In a separate incident, a 4 year old boy, Kondjeni Ndapandongwe, reportedly drowned in a pond after his lifeless body was found floating on the surface at Amilema Village in Oshikoto Region on Sunday.

The next of kin were informed.

The deceased’s body was transported to the Omuthiya Police Mortuary for autopsy.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
